ERNIE MACAULAY

Ernie MacAulay served for many years as an officer with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, working mainly in commercial crime investigations across British Columbia. Over the course of his career, he investigated fraud, corruption, and misconduct by public officials, including some of the province’s most sensitive political cases. MacAulay led the original police investigation into the scandal at the heart of An Impish Rogue, giving him a firsthand view of events that later made national headlines. He also holds a law degree and a graduate degree in business, a rare combination that shaped his approach to both investigative work and the justice system. Following his retirement, MacAulay turned to writing. His first book, The Rosary and the Rifle, was published by Acorn Press in 2021. An Impish Rogue, his second book, draws on his personal records, memory, and decades of firsthand experience to reveal the fuller story behind the case.
